New Delhi: India’s retailinflation measured by consumerprice index (CPI) eased to 5.02%year-on-year in September 2023from 6.83% in the previous monthon the back of softening foodprices, according to data releasedby Ministry of Statistics &Programme Implementation(MoSPI) on Thursday. Afterclimbing to a 15-month high of7.44% in July this year, headlineinflation has now come down toReserve Bank of India (RBI)’supper tolerance level of 6%. The
data released on Thursdayshowed, food inflation declinedto 6.56% in September from9.94% in August. Several marketwatchersand analysts hadpredicted easing of retail inflation inthe month of September.
