Paralakhemundi : For below 5 years children a vaccination program called Pneumococal Conjugate Vaccine(PCV) started. In this occasion at Gyeanic ward such vaccine program started. As chief guest Director state health services Dr.
Bijay Kumar Mahapatra launched the program. Among others CDMO Dr. Pradip Kumar Patrakaar, ADMO(PH) Dr.MSMunir, DMO Dr. PKPanda,DPHO Dr. Mubarak Ali, DPM Soumyarani Gauda with ANMs & staff were present. Dr. Mahapatra briefed on causes of death mostly due to pneumonia for below 5 years children.
Virus named Pneumocicas infected to death on some cases. So PCV is essential to vaccinate those infants to protect from pneumonia.
This vaccine to be started at earliest of 1 & half months, second on 3 & half months where third dose on 9 months with other immunizations. Netrananda Satpathy & DMRCH facilitated the program.
