A two-day strike called by trade unions was a flop in the informal sector on Monday, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said. CAIT Secretary General Parveen Khandelwal said: “Workers in the domestic, trade and other verticals of informal sectors remain unaffected across the country.” He said there was no impact even in various industrial areas where small industries operated manufacturing activities with workers reporting for work as usual. “The workers in the informal sector did not respond to the strike call. Business activities happened as usual in all commercial markets across the country whereas manufacturing activities did take place in industrial areas of non-corporate sector all over India today,” he added.
