STF of Odisha crime branch seize an elephant tusk, one held

Bhubaneswar : A team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch with the help of Angul forest officials has arrested a person and seized an elephant tusk from his possession.

STF sources here today said acting on a tip off, the team conducted a raid with the help of Angul Forest officials near Antulia under Angul Forest Division yesterday and arrested one Sudar Naik while he was trying to strike a deal to sell the tusk.

During the search, one elephant tusk and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession. He was handed over to forest officials for necessary legal action at their end. Investigation is on.

During the last one year, Special drive against the wildlife criminals, the STF has seized as many as 18 Leopard skin, 10 Elephant Tusk, 2 deer skin, 5 live pangolin and 15 kg pangolin scales and arrested 37 wildlife criminals.
