STF arrest a wildlife criminal, seize leopard skin

Bhubaneswar: A team of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime branch
has arrested a wildlife criminal and recovered a leopard skin from his possession.
STF sources on Thursday said acting on a tip off, a team of STF conducted a raid by the road sidenear Gambharimunda village under Banpur Police station in Khordha district on Wednesday.
One Ratnakar Sahoo of Padmapur village was arrested during the raid and the STF personnelrecovered one Leopard Skin and other incriminating articles from his possession.
Ratnakar was arrested and a case U/s. 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w. 51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act,
1972 was registered against him.
The seized leopard skin will be sent to WildLife Institute of India, Dehradun for chemicalexamination, source said. Investigation is on.
Ever since the special drive against the wildlife criminals launched in 2020 by the STF, 51wildlife criminals were arrested while 22 leopard skins, 12 elephant tasks, 7 deer skins, 8 livePangolin and
15 kg of Pangolin scales have been seized
