Bhubaneswar: A village in Similipal National Park area witnessed season’s first snowfall as mercury went down to below five degrees Celsius at some places in the locality. A thin blanket of snow was seen on a paddy straw stack at Kumari village near Guruguria in Similipal of Mayurbhanj district. Sai Kiran, Deputy Director, Similipal North WL Division informed that the Temperature recorded at 6 AM in UBK (upper barah kamuda) is 01 degree C while Chahala saw 6 degree C followed by Nawana which witnessed 06 degrees C. Ramatirtha, Gurguria, Kiajhari and Kiajhari in Similipal recorded 11, 08 and 10 degrees C respectively. As per the reports of IMD, G Udayagiri in Kandhamal and Phulbani emerged coldest with mercury plummeting to 8.4 degrees C and 8.5 degrees C respectively. Kirei in Sundergarh recorded 8.3 degrees C night temperature while Koraput witnessed 9.5 and Rourkela saw 9.8 degrees C. Chipilima, Angul, Keonjhar, Sundergarh and Daringbadi witnessed 10 degrees C each. Twin city-Cuttack and Bhubaneswar shivered at 13.5 and 13.2 degrees C.
