Bhubaneswar: On a day Odisha saw its COVID-19 cases rise sharply to over 700 cases, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday urged the people of the state to wear mask and strictly adhere to the rule. “The risk of COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. Please wear mask to keep yourself and others safe from the infection,” Naveen tweeted. Meanwhile, state Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Mohapatra said that with Rath Yatra concluding, Odisha is likely to see a surge in COVID cases. But, in a reassurance, he added that the rise in infections may not be as rapid as it was in the past. With people returning to their native districts after Rath Yatra, Mohapatra said the government was keeping a close watch on community spread. According to him, the current situation may last till mid-August and improve thereafter.
