Raghubar Das Takes Oath as 26th Governor of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Raghubar Dason Tuesday took the oath ofoffice as the 26th Governor ofOdisha at a simple programme in
the Raj Bhawan here. OdishaChief Justice Dr Justice BidyutRanjan Sarangi administered Dasthe oath of office.Das succeeds Prof Ganeshi Lalas the Governor of Odisha.President Draupadi Murmuappointed him the Governor ofOdisha on October 18, 2023.Chief Minister NaveenPatnaik, Union EducationMinister Dharmendra Pradhan,several members of the OdishaCouncil of Ministers, and
dignitaries attended the swearinginceremony. Raghubar Das,Chief Minister of Jharkhand from2014 to 2019, began his political
career with the Janata Party in1997 and later joined the BJP in1984. He won the JamshedpurEast Assembly constituency for
five consecutive terms from 1989to 2014.Before becoming the ChiefMinister of Jharkhand, Dasserved in various capacities,including the Deputy ChiefMinister of the state, in theJharkhand government. He was the first and only non-tribal Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Das was anemployee of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur and continues to live in the quarterprovided by the company. Earlier in the day, Das offered prayers at theLingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar. Speaking to the media there, he said, “Ihave prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the people of Odisha.” Atthe Raj Bhawar, Das also inspected a Guard of Honour on Tuesday morning.
