Bhubaneswar : The covid tally in Odisha has surpassed 10 lakh mark as 911 more people have tested covid positive in the past 24 hours.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said the tally today surged to 10,00,084 with the detection of 531 new infections from the quarantine centres and 380 local contact cases in the past 24 hours.
Till midnight of August 20, as many as 1,74,15,872 tests were conducted in the state and 5.74 percent of them have so far been infected with coronavirus.
Out of 10,00,084 covid positive cases, as many as 6,70,218 cases were reported only during the second phase of the covid pandemic
The daily covid load for the second consecutive day dipped below 1000 mark and Khordha district reported the highest number of 352 new cases, registering about 38.6 percent of the covid cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours.
All the other 29 districts in the state recorded less than 100 cases. At least 126 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years tested covid positive in the past 24 hours in the state.
Sources said during the period 66 more people succumbed to the virus taking the total fatalities in the state to 7289 which is 0.72 percent of the total covid covid cases in the state.
Jagatsinghpur district reported the highest number of11 deaths followed by Cuttack( 10), Dhenkanal(8), Kendrapara(7) and six each in Angul and Jajpur.
On Friday about 926 covid patients under treatment were cured pushing the total recoveries in the state to 9,83,245, about 98.31 percent of the total cases in the state.
The active covid cases further declined to 9497, almost 2.65 of the active cases in the country and 0.94 percent of the total covid tally in the state.
The two coastal districts of Khordha and Cuttack with 3680 and 1286 active cases respectively accounted for 52.2 percent of the total active cases in the state.
Official sources said the test positivity rate in the state has further declined to 1.27 percent.All the 30 districts have reported test positivity rate less than five percent, 24 of them however, recorded TPR less than one percent.
During the last 24 hours ,the TPR in Khordha district recorded 3.3 percent, highest in the state followed by 3.2 percent in Cuttack.
