Bhubaneswar, Apr 17 (UNI) For the second consecutive day today odisha reported more than 3000 new covid cases while the virus claimed four more lives in the past 24 hours.
Health and Family Welfare Department sources said 3144 new covid cases surfaced from all the 30 districts and state pools in the past 24 hours taking the total covid tally in the state to 3,64,594.
Already 3,43,522 covid patients in the state have been cured till date and the state government has conducted 95,65,427 tests till midnight of April 16.
Official sources said out of fresh 3144 cases reported in the past 24 hours,1823 were from the quarantine centres and 1321 are local contact cases.
At the same time four covid patients, one each from Bolangir,sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts, all in Western Odisha, succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment in the past 24 hours taking the total covid toll in the state to 1942.
Official sources said Sundargarh district continued to witness maximum covid cases daily followed by Khordha for the past one week.
