Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 2282 new infections and 65 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total covid tally in the state to 9,39,752 with 4599 fatalities.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 1315 Covid positive cases from the quarantine centres and 967 local contact cases were reported from 30 districts in the state in the past 24 hours.
For the first time after a long gap of over three months, the local contact cases dipped to below 1000 mark.
Sources said as many as 23 districts have reported less than 100 new cases while Khordha district registered the highest number of 592 cases followed by Cuttack (289),Balasore ( 146) and Mayurbhanj ( 141).
Odisha registered a record 65 deaths from 20 districts in the past 24 hours which included a maximum number of 14 deaths alone from Khordha district.
While six each succumbed to the virus in Bargarh and Puri district, five each died in Angul and Mayurbhanj and four deaths reported from Nayagarh distirict followed three deaths in Sundargarh district.
Official sources said 3120 Covid patients were cured in the state on Saturday taking the total recoveries in the state to 9,09,639.
The active cases further reduced to 25,461 with Khordha district registering the highest number of 4028 cases followed by Cuttack ( 3791).
As many as 75653 tests were conducted in the state on Friday and 3.01 percent of them were found infected with the coronavirus.
Till midnight of July 10, ten Odisha districts, mostly in Western and Southern Odisha have reported test positivity rate below one percent.
On the other hand Nayagarh,Khordha,Jajpur,Cuttack and Kendrapara, all coastal Odisha districts have Test Positivity Rate between 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent.
