Thiruvananthapuram : With three more people have tested positive to Zika Virus, the total number of cases rose to 18 in Kerala, Health Minister Veena George said on Sunday.
“Earlier, in the second set of 27 samples sent for laboratory test, one person tested positive taking the total to 15.
Three tested positive in the third set of eight samples sent for the laboratory test, taking the number of total cases to 18,” the Minister said in a release here.
Earlier, for the first time in the state, a 24-year-old pregnant woman tested positive for Zika virus.
The woman recovered within six days and gave birth to a healthy baby at a private hospital, KIMSHEALTH, here.
Zika virus disease is a new occurrence in the state which is now grappling with the Covid pandemic.
