Odisha registers 358 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, tally surges to 10,34,634

Bhubaneswar : For the second consecutive day, the daily Covid tally in Odisha stayed below 500-mark as 358 cases were reported in part 24 hours, taking the total tally to 10,34,634.

According to Health and Family Welfare department sources, 358 new cases were reported from 23 districts in the past 24 hours, which included 209 from the quarantine centres and 149 local contact cases.

Khordha district has registered 186 cases, which is almost 52 percent of the total positive cases reported in past 24 hours. At least 47 new cases were from the age group 0 to 18-years.

Sources said, while four districts reported no new cases, as many as 17 districts have recorded single digit Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the daily test positivity rate in the state has further declined to 0.66 percent in the past 24 hours from 0.78 percent recorded on Thursday last.

In the past 24 hours, Khordha district reported highest test positivity rate of 2.1 percent followed by Cuttack (1.3 percent) while the other 28 districts have recorded test positivity rate less than one percent.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries have surged to 10,21,180 after 535 patients were discharged on Friday, registering 98.6 percent recovery.

The active cases, however, continued to remain above 5,000-mark with Khordha district registering the highest number of 2,539 cases followed by 532 in Cuttack. These two coastal districts have together accounted for nearly 60 percent of the total 5,119 active cases in the state.

Meanwhile, three more Covid-19 deaths were reported in the state during the ongoing health audit, one each from Khordha, Puri and Sundargarh district. The total number of deaths due to Covid-19 stands at 8,282.
