Odisha records 247 new cases in past 24 hours, Daily TPR remains 0.40 pc for second consecutive day

Bhubaneswar : The daily test positivity rate(TPR) in Odisha remained 0.40 percent for the second consecutive day as 247 people tested covid positive out of 60,988 tests conducted in the state in the past 24 hours.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 247 new cases,144 were reported from the quarantine centres and 103 a local contact cases from 20 districts in the state.

Health experts described the decrease in the local contact cases over past few days in the state as . a good sign.

With 247 new infections, the cumulative covid tally in the state surged to 10,45,209 of which . 10,33,991 have already been recovered from the virus.

Khordha district continued to register highest number of 115 cases followed by Cuttack ( 22),

Sambalpur (13) and Mayurbhanj(12).

These five districts together accounted for 65.5 percent of the total new infections reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

Sources said while ten districts recorded no new cases, as many as 16 districts have reported single digit covid positive cases during the period.

Two more covid deaths, one each from Koraput and Ganjam district, were recorded in the health audit in the past 24 hours pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8375.

The active cases further dropped to 2790 with Khordha district alone registering the highest number of 1303 cases followed by Cuttack (249) Jajpur (108) and Sambalpur( 105 ).

These four districts together have accounted for 63.26 percent of the total active cases in the state.

Although the daily test positivity rate of the state continued to remain 0.40 percent for the second day, Deogarh and Khordha districts recorded 1.88 percent and 1.3 percent respectively.

As many as 17 districts in the state registered the test positivity rate less than one percent while eleven districts have zero test positivity rate.

Meanwhile, Odisha has achieved another milestone in vaccination surpassing the four crore mark.Till mid night of November 12 the state administered 2,67,34.005 first doses while 1,33,60,655 people have been inoculated with the second dose

Taking to the tweeter, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said “Glad to share that Odisha crossed yet another significant milestone in the fight against #COVID19 pandemic by administering 4 crore vaccine doses.

“Commend the hard work and commitment of our healthcare workers in ensuring a swift inoculation to save precious lives,’ Mr Patnaik said.
