Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 754 new covid cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,09,223 with 8028 fatalities.
Health and family Welfare department sources said 438 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 316 as local contact cases in the past 24 hours.
There has been a sharp decline in the daily covid deaths as only six fatalities were reported from only three districts in the past 24 hours.They included four from Khordha district and one each from Cuttack and Jajpur districts.
The state has been reporting on an average 60 covid deaths daily since July 8 last Both Khordha and Cuttack districts together contributed for 49 percent of the new covid cases as well as the active cases in the state.
Out of 754 new infections recorded in the state in the past 24 hours, Khordha district has registered 261 cases followed by 110 in Cuttack.
Similarly, out of 7241 active cases in the state, Khordha alone accounted for 2718 cases followed by 890 in Cuttack district.
The test positivity rate of the state in the past 24 hours stood at 1.13 percent. As many as 29 of the 30 districts in the state recorded the test positivity rate below 2 percent.
Khordha district however recorded the highest test positivity rate of 2.8 percent in the past 24 hours.
The recovery in the state further surged to 9,93,901 after 666 people were found cured from the virus in the state on Tuesday.
