Odisha logs 171 new cases in past 24 hours, Test Positivity Rate drops to 0.29 pc

Bhubaneswar : After a gap of eight months, the daily covid load in Odisha recorded 171 new cases in the past 24 hours
taking the total tally in the state to 10,47,174.

On March 24 last the state recorded 170 covid positive cases.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 171 new cases from 21 districts,98 were found from the quarantine centres and 73 as local contact cases.

At least 34 infections(19.8 per cent) were reported in the age group of 0 to 18 years. Khordha district registered the highest number of 76 cases followed by Sambalpur ( 13) and Cuttack(10). These three districts together accounted for 57.89 per cent of the total new cases in the state.

No positive cases were reported from eleven districts during the period while 16 districts have recorded single-digit covid cases.

Only one covid death was reported from the Balasore district during the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8394.

The recovery in the state surged to 10,36,501, about 98.9percent of the total cases with the recovery of 271 more covid patients on Sunday.

The active cases further dropped to 2226 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 1060 cases followed by 182 in the Cuttack district. These two coastal districts together contributed 50.84 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

Sources said the daily test positivity rate further dropped to 0.29 per cent today and barring Khordha district which has recorded a 1.2 per cent test positivity rate, the other 29 districts in the state registered the TPR below one per cent.
