Bhubaneswar: The daily covid load in Odisha crossed the 11,000 mark for the second time during the last six days taking the tally in the state to 11,55,487.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 11,086 new cases were reported from all the 30 districts in the past 24 hours which included 6431 from the quarantine centres and 4655 as local contact cases.
On January 15 last, the state recorded 11,177 new cases and during the last six days as high as63,940 covid positive cases have already been registered.
Official sources said four more deaths, one each in Cuttack, Kendrapara, Sundargarh andKoraput district, were reported in the health audit pushing the fatalities in the state to 8488.
The active cases in the state further jumped to 80,914 while the daily positivity rate surpassed 15per cent on Tuesday and the recoveries soared to 10,66,032 registering 92.2 per cent after 5965 more covid patients were cured of the virus on Monday.
Out of 11,086 new infections, Khordha district registered the highest number of 3469 positive cases followed by Sundargarh (1416), Cuttack (766), Mayurbhanj(393), Balasore ( 323) and Bolangir ( 300).
These six districts in Odisha contributed over 60 per cent of the new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
On the basis of the number of active cases, six districts were declared as Red Zones, nine as Yellow Zones and 15 as Green Zones.
Khordha district has the highest number of 27,010 active cases followed by Sundargarh (10589),Cuttack( 5808), Sambalpur (3704), Balasore(2936) and Mayurbhanj (2528).
These six districts have together accounted for 56.32 per cent of total active cases in the state.
The test positivity rate in the state on Tuesday jumped to 15.63 per cent from 70,890 tests.
As many as 20 of 30 districts in the state were declared as Red Zones for registering the TPRabove 7.5 per cent to as high as 39 per cent while four districts with TPR varying from 5 to 7.5per cent have been categorized as Yellow Zone and the rest six districts as Green Zone havingless than 5 per cent test positivity rate.
Sundargarh district in Western Odisha continued to remain at the top of the tally with 39.3 percent TPR followed by Khordha(29 per cent),Kalaahndi( 17.5 per cent), Rayagada ( 17.5 per cent),Mayurbhanj( 16.4 per cent), Balasore ( 14 percent0 and Cuttack (13.7 per cent).
Director Health Services Bijaya Mohapatra said for the last few days the state had been reportingdaily covid load between 10,000 to 11,000 cases but the hospitalization is very minimal so alsothe oxygen requirement among the covid patients.
He said at present it would be difficult to ascertain whether the daily covid load would furtherrise in the state or not adding the trend would be known only after a fortnight.
