Odisha govt decides to execute six rural piped water projects at a cost of Rs 1280 crore

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government today decided to execute six Rural piped water projects at a cost of Rs 1280 crore to provide safe and clean water in the districts of Ganjam, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Boudh districts.

The decision was taken at the state Cabinet meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting Panchayatiraj and Drinking water Minister Pratap Jena said all the six Rural Piped water projects would be executed with JMM funding and targeted to be completed within 24 months.

While the state Cabinet approved the lowest tender of M/S KEC-SPML(JV)Mumbai, for the execution of the projects in Rayagada and Ganjam Districts, M/s L &T Ltd Chennai was entrusted to execute the work in Kandhamal and Boudh Districts.

Mr Jena said around 6.64 lakh people in the Rangeilunda, Ganjam, Chhatrapur and Khalikpte block of Ganjam district, over 2.79 lakh people of Harbhajan in Boudh district and Phiringia, Phulbagan, Chakapada, Khajeripada, G Udaygiri blocks of Kandhamal district and over 1.57 lakh people of Kashipur and Rayagada blocks of Rayagada district would be benefitted by the execution of these projects.

The cabinet approved the lowest tender of KEC-SPML(JV)amounting to Rs 325,75,64,910 for execution of the project in Ganjam district, Rs 298,69,69,796 for Raygada district and the lowest tender of M/s L &T Chennai amounting Rs Rs 657,57,04,000 for the execution of the project in Kandhamal and Boudh districts.
