Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday enhanced the Upper Age Limit for entry into Government Service from 32 years to 38 years only for the advertisements made or to be made during the calendar year 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The decision to enhance the age limit was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Pataik on Monday
The upper age limit for entry into government service is governed under the provisions of the
Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules,1989.
As per the provisions contained under rule 2 of the said rules, the upper age limit for entry in to Government Service is 32 (Thirty two) years relaxable in case of ST/SC/SEBC/Women and PwDs
as prescribed by the Government from time to time.
However, it has come to the notice of the Government that the recruitment process is delayed
due to unavoidable reasons thereby delaying subsequent recruitment.
As a result, the age of applicants gets over and they do not get ample chances to participate in
the recruitment examination.
In view of the above, the Government has been pleased to enhance the Upper Age Limit for entry into Government Service from 32 years to 38 years only for the advertisements made/to be made during the calendar year i.e. 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The age limit however is relaxable in case of ST/SC/SEBC and Women of all categories up to 43years and 48 years for General PwD candidates including women candidates and 53 years for cumulative age relaxation for ST/SC/SEBC/PwD candidates including women.
