a patriot. He worked hard for the social, political and economical upliftment of the people of Odisha. He was the founder of “Utkal Sammilani” which brought the revolution in the social development of Odisha. Acclaimed as a great legislator and journalist, Madhusudan Das was the first Odia to be the member of Legislative Council and Member of Central Legislative Assembly and was the first to sail overseas. He had the distinction of being the first Indian Minister.
