Kendrapada: The Indian Coast Guard on Sunday repatriate a Bangladeshi Fishing boat along with 20 Bangladeshi fishermen at Indo-Bangladesh International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).
The Bangladeshi fishing boat ‘’Allahabad Daan’’ along with 20 fishermen was formally hande dover by ICG ship Sarojini Naidu to Bangladesh Coast Guard Ship Shadhin Bangla at IMBL
The boat was reportedly adrift at sea after its engine breakdown and was sighted by Indian fishermen. The Indian fishermen provided necessary assistance to the boat and towed it to Paradip on December 26 last.
As many as 20 fishermen from Bangladesh had started their voyage to the Bay of Bengal on December 7 last to catch fish., Their vessel allegedly drifted into the water of Indian territory and remained in sea for nearly 15 days, after the engine of their vessel developed a technical snag
Two fishing vessels of Nehru Bangla Fishing harbour, Paradip rescued the Bangladeshi fishermen and towed their fishing vessel to Paradip. They later informed the Marine fishery Department.
Indian Coast Guard in coordination with Marine Police at Paradip provided shelter to the boat and its crew on humanitarian grounds
