Govt Notifies to Reserve Mayor Post for Woman in BeMC

Berhampur: The Mayor post in Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) will be reserved for woman in the ensuing urban local body elections. An official notification has been issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department in this regard on January 28. Besides BeMC, the Mayor post in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will also be reserved for woman. However, it is unreserved in Cuttack
Municipal Corporation. Earlier on January 12, the Odisha government had issued a gazette notification proposing the reservation of the post of mayor for women in the municipal corporations of
Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.
