Daily covid load in Odisha remains below 400 mark for third consecutive day

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load remained below 400 mark for the third consecutive day in Odisha and the daily test positivity rate further dropped to 0.52 per cent as out of 61542 tests,322 people tested covid positive taking the tally in the state to 10,42,422.

On October 31, Odisha recorded 316 new cases which marginally increased to 327 on November 1 last.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said 187 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 135 as local contact cases in the state during the last 24 hours.

Khordha district alone registered 169 cases, the highest in the state accounting for 52.48 per cent of the total cases recorded in the state in the past 24 hours followed by Cuttack(19) and Jajpur ( 13).

These three coastal districts together have 62.4 per cent of the positive cases.

Sources said as many as 21 of the total 30 districts in the state recorded single-digit covid cases while five districts have reported no covid cases during the period.

Three more covid deaths were recorded in the health audit, one each from Khordha, Mayurbhanj and Nayagarh district, pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8343.

The active cases in the state further dropped to 4000 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 1960 cases, about 41 per cent of the total active cases in the state followed by 354 in Cuttack. These two coastal districts together have 57.85 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

As many as 441 covid patients were recovered from the virus on Tuesday taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,30,026.

The daily test positivity rate(TPR) in Odisha has further declined to 0.52 per cent in the last 24 hours.

As far as the TPR of the districts is concerned, Khordha district has the highest rate 2.3 per cent followed by Cuttack (1.5 per cent) while the other 28 districts have less than one per cent.
