Daily covid load in Odisha further dips to 609 in past 24 hours, Tally rises to 10,07,112

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load in Odisha further dipped to 609 in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,07,112.

During the period 67 more deaths were reported in the state pushing the fatalities to 7901 while the recovery shot up to 9,91,630 with 834 people reported cured of the virus on Sunday.

The active cases further reduced 7528 and the test positivity rate in the state in the past 24 hours for the first time recorded below 1 per cent to remain at 0.93 per cent.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 609 new cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours,354 were reported from the quarantine centres and 255 as local contact cases.

At least 97 cases were reported from the age group from 1-18 years. Khordha district has the highest number of 209 cases followed by 71 in Cuttack district. These two coastal Odisha districts together contributed 45.9 per cent of the new covid cases in the state.

These two districts also have the maximum number of 3850 active cases( Khordha-2906 and Cuttack-944) contributing about 51 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

Similarly, out of 67 covid fatalities reported during the health audit process, a maximum of 20 deaths were recorded from Cuttack district followed by 9 each in Angul and Jagatsinghpur districts and six in Khordha district.

Sources said the test positivity rate(TPR) in 25 of the total 30 districts in the state has recorded less than one per cent in the past 24 hours and Khordha district registered the highest TPR of 3.1 per cent.
