Daily covid load in Odisha dips below 200 mark in past 24 hours, tally rises to 10,45,656

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid tally in Odisha dipped below 200 mark for the second time during the last fortnight taking the cumulative tally in the state to 10,45,656.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 185 new cases were reported from 18 districts in the state which included 109 from the quarantine centres and 76 as local contact cases.

On November 4, the state, almost after a gap of 220 days, recorded 170 covid positive cases.

Out of the 185 new cases, Khordha district recorded the highest number of 76 cases followed by Sambalpur( 18), Cuttack ( 14) and Mayurbhanj (12). These four districts in the state accounted for nearly 65 per cent of the total new infections registered in the past 24 hours.

Sources said no covid cases were reported from 12 districts while 14 districts have recorded single-digit covid cases.

The daily test positivity rate (TPR) further dropped to 0.32 per cent from 0.40 per cent recorded on November 14 last. Barring two districts-Khordha and Deogarh the other 28 districts in the state reported the test positivity rate below one per cent, eleven of them, however, recorded zero test positivity rate. Khordha district registered a 1.7 per cent test positivity rate, the highest in the state followed by Deogarh ( 1.3 per cent).

As many as 205 covid patients were recovered from the virus on Sunday, pushing the total recoveries in the state to 10,34,505, about 98.93 per cent of the total covid cases detected so far in the state.

In the ongoing health audit process, two more covid deaths were recorded from Khordha district taking the total fatalities in the state to 8379.

The active cases further reduced to 2719 of which khordha district alone accounted for 1269 cases followed by 249 in Cuttack district. These two coastal districts have altogether 1518 active cases, about 55.82 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
