Bhubaneswar : The covid tally in Odisha today surged to 10,10,072 with the detection of 849 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Seven more covid patients succumbed to the virus during the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8035.
Sources said with the recovery of 738 people on Thursday, the total recoveries in the state jumped to 9,94,639 while the active cases further reduced to 7345.
Khordha and Cuttack districts together contributed 3733 active cases, almost 50 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 849 new cases reported as many as 120 cases were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.
Khordha and Cuttack districts together accounted for 458 cases which are 53.94 per cent of the total infections recorded in the past 24 hours in the state.
For the second consecutive day, the state reported a single-digit death toll. Out of seven fatalities recorded in the state, two were reported from Ganjam district and one each from Balasore,
Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Puri districts.
The daily test positivity rate in the state in the past 24 hours recorded 1.19 per cent. Excepting the Khordha district which has recorded TPR 2.8 per cent, all other 29 districts reported less than 2 per cent.
