In a distressing incident, at least 15 passengers traveling on a bus lost their lives while several others were injured after the vehicle carrying them plunged into a gorge in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda area. The death toll is expected to increase as several other injured individuals are in critical condition. Around 35 or more passengers were onboard when the bus fell into the Chenab River gorge, as per sources.
Local police and fire services personnel are actively involved in the rescue operation, with a significant turnout of locals who have joined the efforts. The injured have been promptly taken to a nearby hospital. Union Minister Jitendra Singh shared that arrangements were being made for a helicopter to transport the injured.
“Injured individuals are being shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar and GMC Doda as required. Helicopter service will be arranged for the transfer of more injured individuals. All possible assistance is being provided,” Jitendra Singh tweeted.
