Exemplary Way of Celebrating Deepavali in Kandalei

Bhubaneswar: A tribal village Kandalei situated in Chandaka Damapada elephant sanctuary area created a history in terms of celebrating Deepavali in an unprecedented way. Normally people enjoy crackers, sparkles, bombs to celebrate Deepavali but exceptionally these tribal people use balloons instead of crackers and bombs. They not only stop using these harmful crackers but heartly welcomed the decision of honourable supreme court to restrict using crackers. They are nature lover they take all possible steps to save their environment. Small children used placards inscribed with various messages to show to the outer world. Bullseye an organization who works for the upliftment of the blinds has organised this awareness programme at this tribal village Kandalai. Eminent environmentalist and social worker Sushanta Ku Sahoo who was a guest in this programme told that according to a report published by ICMR that since last 23 years almost 67171 people have wounded their eyes during Deepavali among them 11566 people lost their eye and become complete blind and 19613 people become partial blind. He also appealed that in the festival of light no one should push their life into complete dark and for this we need to avoid these harmful crackers, bombs and sparkles. Other eminent personalities including chairman Bullseye Trilochan Beura, Chief advisor and Intellectual Chandra Sekhar Pal, social worker Santoshi Jain i and teacher Subash Ojha have joined in this programme.
