Mayurbhanj: Six people died and 12 were critically injured after the truck the Jatra troupe ‘Dhauli Gananatya’ was travelling
by overturned on National Highway No 49 at Dwarsuni Ghat in Bangiriposhi in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday morning. Some people are still reported to be trapped under the truck and efforts are underway to rescue them. The deceased are yet to be identified, while the injured have been admitted to Bangiriposi Hospital. The Jatra troupe was on its way to Baripada from Rairangpur Basangi. According to reports, the driver lost control of the wheel while negotiating a turn at Dwasun Ghat. On being informed, the police and fire services personnel reached the spot and started rescue operations. expressed deep grief over the death of six people in a road accident at Gurashuni Ghati in Mayurbhanj district today. Expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, he announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 3 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased. Along with this, the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to make proper medical arrangements for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
