Bus Strike Put on Hold Till November 8

Bhubaneswar: The OdishaBus Owners’ Association(AOPBOA) put its proposedbus strike on hold till November8 and has decided not to providevehicles to any political party,informed association’s secretaryDebendra Sahu on Monday.While speaking to the mediapersons after the association’s
meeting to decide its next sourceof action, Sahu said, “We urge theState government once again to
withdraw its decision to plybuses under the LocationAccessible Multimodal Initiative
(LAccMI) scheme to the districtheadquarters from the blocks.The LAccMI scheme will be
launched at Kalahandi’s Bhawanipatna on November 1.If LAccMI buses are run from
blocks to the district headquartertown on that day, then a roundthe-clock bus strike will be
observed in Kalahandi district andbus associations of 10neighbouring districts will also
join the strike.””As of now, the bus strike hasbeen put on hold and the membersof the association will meet atBhawanipatna on November 8 todecide their next course of action.From now on the private busseswill not be given on rent for anypolitical rally or event,” headded.Earlier, the association hadannounced to launch itsindefinite strike across the Statefrom October 31. However, ithas been now extended tillNovember 8.
