Administration Felicitates Silver-winning Kho Kho Team

Puri: The Kho Kho team, which won the silver medal at the 37th National Games held in Goa on 9/11, was felicitated by the Puri district administration today. Both the men’s and women’s teams won the silver medal. Additional District Collector Administration Pradeep Kumar Sahu presided over the felicitation and said that Puri’s role was important in the promotion of kho kho khela in the state. The entire training of the state kho kho team is underway at the Puri Sports Complex. These successful sportspersons are trained from there. Puri district has a reputation in the field of sports. Kishore Jena from the district created history by winning a silver in javelin throw of this year’s Asian Games. Ananya Pradhan in Kho Kho has achieved the feat by being selected for the national level. The state government has made arrangements to give Rs 3 lakh each to all the players as the silver has won. He said all cooperation would be provided for the development of sports in future. Pradyuman Mishra, secretary of the State Kho Kho Association, said kho kho sportspersons have proved their mettle across the country and efforts will continue to ensure that they win gold medals through more hard work and training in the future. Odisha men’s and women’s teams lost to Maharashtra in the final of the National Games to clinch the silver medal. Deputy Collector Rakesh Panda was present at the felicitation programme. District Information and Public Relations Officer Santosh Kumar Sethi, District Sports Officer Chandan Sahu, District Culture Officer Hemanta Behera, Odisha Mo Pariwar Secretary Subhasish Khuntia, Zilla Parishad Chairperson’s Representative Vidyadhar Swain, Former Secretary of District Sports Parliament Ravi Shankar Pratihari, Men’s Team Coach Chaudhary Partha Sarathi Mohapatra and Women’s Team Manager Elina Khuntia were present on the occasion.
