‘Service and Devotion Bring Success’

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha is all set to hold its state-level foundation day celebration in Puri on December 26. BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal in this regard, said party vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra here today. In a preparatory meeting held at the BJD office today, plans have been prepared to celebrate the Foundation Day in Odisha. Schedule of the year is fixed. It has nothing to do with the election and it is not a government program. “The BJD was unable to celebrate its 25th foundation day
properly last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our party president Naveen Patnaik has approved a proposal to celebrate the 25th anniversary of BJD in Puri on December 26,” Mishra added. The office-bearers of BJD’s state, district and block units, and elected representatives of the party will participate in the celebration in Puri. Our party
president will address the gathering. The party will celebrate its foundation day in all Assembly constituencies in
next 15 days, Mishra added. Naveen Patnaik’s concepts are reflected everywhere. BJD has turned into a social movement, said party senior vice-president Prasanna Acharya. BJD is always ahead. Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Naik informed that he has continued the BJD program for 25 years in the service of the people, not to counter anyone.
BJD will hold foundation celebrations in various parts of the state throughout the year. Celebrations will be held from block to district level. Multiple programs will be held during this period. As development is the BJD’s mantra, the party leaders and workers will take the development plans of the state government to the people. Various cultural programs and blood donation camps will be organized to understand the problems of the poor and find ways to solve them. Notably, the BJD was founded on December 26, 1997. The regional party in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to the power in Odisha in 2000 Assembly elections. The alliance retained power in 2004 Assembly elections in the state. The regional party was able to form government in Odisha on its own in 2009 Assembly elections after parting ways with the BJP in the aftermath of Kandhamal riots in 2008. The BJD managed to retain power in Odisha in 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections.
