Rain likely to occur in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha from January 11 to 14 due to anticipated approaching western disturbances towards eastern India and strong moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal.
The Local IMD here predicted that thunderstorm accompanied with hail and heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places in some districts of Western Odisha and in some other districts during the period.
The weather office issued a yellow warning for the districts of Baragarha, Bolangir, Sonepur,Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarha, and Deogarha from 0830hours of January 11 to 0830hrson January 12 next and for the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Anugul, Dhenkanal,Cuttack and Nayagarh from 0830hrs of January 12 to 0830hrs on the next day.
A yellow warning was also issued for the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanja, Balasore, Bhadrak,Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Nayagarha, and Kandhamal for January 14.
The rain might damage agricultural and horticultural crops and cause traffic disruption, the Special Relief Commissioner office warned.
It advised the farmers to shift the harvested paddy to safer places before January 10, postpones owing of Rabi pulses and oilseeds, harvest matured vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, bean, carrot and radish.
