V i s a k h a p a t n a m /Bhubaneswar: The Railwayauthorities on Monday clarifythat 13 people have been killedin the mishap wherein fourcoaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train derailed onSunday after it was rammed intoby the Visakhapatnam-Rayagadapassenger train near Kantakapallijunction in Kothavalasa ‘mandal'(block).Earlier, the toll was pegged at14. The Railway authoritiestoday said that the death toll wasrevised after counting the severedbody parts of a deceased twice.They added that 29 injured passengers are currently under treatment and 10 among them are statedto be critical. In all, 50 passengers of both trains sustained varying degrees
of injuries. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Vizianagaram and
Visakhapatnam. Vizianagaram district Collector Nagalakshmi said 32
injured were admitted to the Government General Hospital at Vizianagaram.
Meanwhile, the rescue operations have been completed and now the focus
is on clearing the tracks to normalise railway traffic on the route.
