PM Modi is the most democratic leader: Amit Shah

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most “democratic” leader and an excellent listener, Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday and slammed the critics who say the PM takes decisions unilaterally.

In an interview to Sansad TV on 20 years of Prime Minister Modi in public life, he said, “I have seen Modi ji working closely, I have never seen a listener like Modi ji, In any meeting, he is the one who speaks the least,” said the Home Minister.

“To say that he is the leader who imposes his own decisions is not true at all, those who have worked with him say that the cabinet has never before functioned in such a democratic way as it is under Modi ji’. I have not seen a listener like him,” he said.

Shah said the PM wants “discipline”, and he wants that issues discussed at a forum should not be discussed outside.

“People think Modiji has taken the decision, they don’t know it is a result of consultations,” he said.

The Home Minister also said that as the Prime Minister, it is his right to take decisions, and he has delegated that decision making power to other ministers.

“He listens to people, weighs all options, plus-minus points and then takes a decision,” he said.

He also said that those of opposing ideology were trying to damage his image.

“What I am going to say is very unfortunate… Some people who are our ideological opponents, they manipulate facts and try to damage the image of the prime minister,” he said.

Shah also said that the Prime Minister takes risky decisions, because he believes the government is in power to change the country.
