Odisha to put all efforts for second AIIMS in Sundargarh- Naveen

Bhubaneswar : Odisha government will continue its efforts for the establishment of the second AIIMS at Sundergarh, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.

Launching the distribution of Smart health cards at Rourkela under the Biju Swasthay Kalyan Yojana today, Mr Patnaik said the government will put forth the justified demand of the people of Sundergarh who have brought Olympic glory to the country before the Union government more vigorously.

Sundergarh is the second district after Malkangiri in the distribution of smart health cards in the state.

The Chief Minister had announced the smart health cards on Independence Day this year and distributed the smart health cards for the first time in Malkangiri on August 20 last.

Stating that 3.5 crore people belonging to 96 lakh families would be benefitted from the smart health cards, Mr Patnaik said poor people would be free from many health-related problems particularly from financial problems caused due to medical expenses with the launching of the cards.

He said people would get better treatment in 200 big hospitals without spending a single rupee.

Along with distributing health cards, the Chief Minister also launched several projects worth Rs 580 .82 crore in Sundergarh.

The projects included infrastructure development, education, health, livelihood, sanitation, irrigation, energy, women and child development sectors.
