Odisha STF seizes two leopard skin, two held

Bhubaneswar: A team of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch
has apprehended two wildlife criminals and recovered two Leopard skins and other
incriminating materials from their possession
STF sources on Thursday said acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a raid with the help of
Betanati Forest Officials near S.C.B. Junior College, Ragdha, under Betanati Police station of
Mayurbhanj District on January 5 and apprehended the criminals
The STF identified the two wildlife criminals as Prasanta Kumar Mohanty of Kuamara village
under Talakadada, Police station and Gora Bindhani of Balijuda village under Badasahi Police
station of Mayurbhanj.
During the search, two Leopard skin and other incriminating articles were recovered from their
possession.
The accused persons could not produce any authorisation for possessing leopard skin. They have
been detained and handed over to Baripada Forest Officials for legal action at their end.
The Leopard skins will be sent to WildLife Institute of India, Dehradun for chemical examination.
