Odisha reports over 400 covid cases for third consecutive day

Bhubaneswar, July 8 (Dumanimail) For the third consecutive day the covid positive cases in Odisha surpassed the 400 mark as 470 new cases were detected in the state in the past 24 hours taking the tally to 12,92,416.Health department sources said out of 470 positive cases reported from eleven of the 30 districts, 276 cases were recorded from the quarantine centres and 194 as local contact cases.During the last three days, the covid positive cases have jumped from 401 to 428 and finally 470 in the past 24 hours. Khordha district continued to record the highest number of positive cases for the last several days. The positive cases in the district surpassed 200 mark to report 221 cases followed by Cuttack (94), Sundargarh (24) and Puri (17).The daily state test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 2.7 per cent with Khordha district registering the highest TPR of 10.6 per cent followed by Puri (8.1) and Cuttack ( 7.7 per cent).Official sources said the active cases also surged to 2487 of which Khordha district alone accounted for the highest number of 1207 cases followed by Cuttack (440) and Balasore (81).Three districts such as Dhenkanal, Angul and Koraput have no active cases at all while eleven districts have zero test positivity rate.
