Odisha reports 625 new cases,67 deaths in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 625 new covid cases and 67 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 10,02,323 with 7493 fatalities.

The daily covid load in Odisha has been witnessing a remarkable fall in the numbers for the last one week from 1041 on August 18 last to 625 in the past 24 hours.

The test positivity rate(TPR) in the state has also been maintaining less than 2 per cent since August 5 last with a fall from 1.74 per cent on August 5 to 1.2 per cent in the last 24 hours.

Sources said in the last 24 hours 366 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 259as local contact cases.

Only Khordha district has recorded more than 100 cases while the other 29 districts have registered less than 100 cases, some even reported either nil or single digit numbers

With 214 new cases during the past 24 hours, Khordha district in the coastal Odisha reported the highest number of 214 new cases, almost 34.24 per cent of the total positive cases registered in the state.

Out of 67 fatalities reported in the state in the past 24 hours, Cuttack district alone recorded 20 deaths followed by Jagatsinghpur( 14) and Dhenkanal ( 8).

These three districts together accounted for more than 72 per cent of the total fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.

The active cases further declined to 8443 with Khordha and Cuttack districts witnessing more than 51 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

The recovery case in the state stands at 0.98 per cent of the total tally with 9,86,334 having already been cured of the infections.
