Odisha reports 559 new covid cases in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 559 new covid positive cases in the past 24 hours pushing the total covid tally in the state to 10,36,532.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said during the period 321 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 238 local contact cases.

At least 71 positive cases, about 12.70 percent, were detected in the age group of 0 to 18 years and Khordha district recorded the highest number of 279 cases, almost 50 percent of the total infections registered in the state in the past 24 hours.

Only two covid deaths were registered, one each from Jagatsinghpur and Nayagarh district during the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8296.

The recovery in the state surged to 10,23,398 after 618 patients recovered from the virus on Tuesday.

The daily test positivity rate in the state recorded 0.79 percent. However, Khordha and Cuttack districts reported a test positivity rate at 3.3 percent and 2.2 percent respectively.

The other 28 districts in the state registered less than one percent, eight of them even reported zero test positivity rate.

The active cases continued to remain below 5000 mark for the last few days with Khordha district and Cuttack district together accounting for a little over 60 percent of the total active cases in the state.
