Odisha reports 529 covid 19 cases in past 24 hours, tally surges to 10,32,673

Bhubaneswar : The daily Covid load in Odisha, which declined to less than 500 mark on Sunday last, shot up to 529 in
the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 10,32,673.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 308 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 221 as local contact cases from 19 districts of the state.

The other eleven districts reported no new covid cases in the past 24 hours. Khordha district continued to witness the highest number of covid cases and registered 274 new cases which is 51.79 percent of the total positive cases.

The two coastal districts of Khordha and Cuttack together accounted for 58 percent of the total infections reported during the past 24 hours in the state .

Official sources said a majority of the cases from Khordha district were reported from Bhubaneswar city which has been witnessing a daily covid load ranging from 200 to 300 cases for the last several days.

The covid cases in the state for the last three months have been showing fluctuating trends of up and down but majority of the cases , about 80 percent, the health experts claimed have reported no symptoms and are being treated in home isolation.

Sources said out of 529 new cases registered in the past 24 hour,62 were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

On the other hand with the recovery of 469 patients on Monday,the recovery in the state rose to 10,19,218 while the active cases continued to remain above 5000 mark.

Out of 5141 active cases, Khordha district alone contributed 2464 cases( 47 percent) followed by 568 in Cuttack ( 11 percent).These two coastal districts together accounted for 58 percent of the total active cases in the state.

The daily test positivity rate(TPR) in the state today marginally increased to 0.94 percent from 0.7 percent reported on Monday.

Out of 30 districts only three districts- Khordha,Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur have recorded test positivity rate above one percent while the rest 27 districts recorded less than one percent TPR.

Khordha registered the highest TPR of 1.7 percent followed by Cuttack ( 1.3 percent) and Jagatsinghpur (1.1 percent ).

The fatalities in the state today rose to 8261 after six more covid deaths were identified in five districts during the health audit process.
