Odisha reports 467 new covid cases in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : The daily covid load and test positivity rate in Odisha further dipped today as 467 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,37,523.

The daily test positivity rate (TPR) also declined to 0.69 percent in the past 24 hours as against 0.76 percent reported on Wednesday.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 467 new cases, 272 were reported from the quarantine centres and 195 as local contact cases.

At least 86 cases, about 18.41 percent were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years while Khordha district alone accounted for 243 covid 19 cases which is 52.03 percent of the total infections recorded in the state in the past 24 hours.

The total recovery in the state surged to 10,24,422 (98.7 percent)after 573 patients were cured from the virus on Thursday.

The active cases continued to remain below the 5000 mark. Khordha district with the highest number of 2433 active cases remained in the yellow zone contributing 51.25 percent of the total active cases in the state.

Barring Khordha and Cuttack districts, the test positivity rate in the past 24 hours recorded below one percent with six districts reflecting zero percent.

Khordha district has the highest test positivity rate of 2.2 percent followed by Cuttack (1.2 percent).

The covid death toll in the stat rose to 8301, about 0.8 percent of the total cases reported so far .Three new covid deaths were recorded, one each at Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack district.
