Odisha reports 443 new COVID cases in past 24 hrs

Bhubaneswar : Odisha for the third consecutive day reported less than 500 COVID positive cases pushing the total tally in the state to 10,35,077.

Health and family Welfare department sources said 443 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours from 55,115 tests with a test positivity rate of 0.8 percent.

The new cases included 258 cases from the quarantine centres and 185 local contact cases. At least 75 infections(16.9 percent) were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

Khordha district with the highest number of 243 positive cases accounted for nearly 55 percent of the total positive cases reported in the past 24 hours.

Eleven districts in the state recorded no Covid cases during the period while as many districts have registered single digit cases.

The recovery in the state rose to 10,21,742 with 562 patients cured from the virus on Saturday.The active cases after a long gap dipped below 5000 mark to remain at 4997.

Khordha district has the highest number of 2503 active cases, almost 51 percent of the total active cases in the state and declared as the only Red zone in the state.

Barring Khordha district which has reported 3.3 per cent test positivity rate, the other 29 districts in the state recorded less than one per cent in the past 24 hours.

The Covid death toll further increased to 8285 as three more deaths,one each from Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh,were registered during the ongoing health audit process.
