Odisha registers 255 new Covid Positive cases and two fatalities during the last 24 hours

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 255 fresh Covid Positive cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total
cumulative covid positive cases in the state to 10,50,760.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said the 255 new infections included 54 cases in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

Out of the 255 new cases while 152 were reported from quarantine centres 103 were local contact cases. The state has now 2142 active cases.

Khordha district reported 106 cases, the highest in the state during the past 24 hours followed by Mayurbhanja 22, Sambalpur 19, Sundergarha 18, Jaipur 16, Anugul 14 and Cuttack 12.

During the period two covid deaths—one each from Cuttack and Khordha was reported taking the total cumulative fatalities in the state to 8426.

As many as 218 covid patients were cured of the virus yesterday taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,40,139.

Meanwhile, Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra told newspersons here today that 982 people from at-risk countries — the countries which have reported a high number of Omicron variant cases have arrived in the state till last evening.

Out of the 982, as many as four were tested positive for Covid Positive. All four cases were sent to ILS for genomic sequencing testing.

Mr Mishra appealed to the people not to be panicked and observe Covid appropriate behaviour.

He said some of the returnees are not picking up the phone and efforts are on track them.

The Director said no one is absconding. The field-level health workers are moving from village to village to collect information trace them.
