Odisha records 510 Covid-19 cases

Bhubaneswar : After a surge in daily covid load ,the positive cases in Odisha have
started declining over the past two days with 510 new infections being reported in the past 24
hours.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 297 new cases were
reported from the quarantine centres and 213 as local contact cases taking the total tally in the
state to 10,20,754.

Khordha district recorded the highest number of 197 cases followed by Cuttack(78),Balasore(33)
and 28 each in Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur district.

These five coastal districts together contributed about 88.6 percent of the new cases reported
during the last 24 hours.

The death toll in the state rose to 8141 as six fatalities were reported from five districts during
the health audit.The recovery further surged to 10,07,066 after 746 people were cured from the
virus on Sunday.

The active case further reduced to 5494,the majority of them found in Khordha (2383) and
Cuttack (686) districts.These two districts alone contributed 55.86 percent of the total active
cases in the state.

Sources said the test positivity rate in the state further dipped to 0.81 percent in the last 24
hours. However, Khordha district recorded the highest test positivity rate of 3.3 percent followed
by Jagatsinghpur(2.8 percent ), Cuttack(1.8 percent) and Jajpur ( 1.2 percent).

The other 26 districts in the state reported less than one percent test positivity rate.
