Odisha records 425 fresh covid cases in past 24 hours, tally rises to 10,38,836 with 8312 fatalities

Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 425 fresh covid cases in the past 24 hours from 23 districts taking the total tally in the state to 10,38,836.

During the period three deaths were reported one each from Bhadrak, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts pushing the total covid fatalities in the state to 8312.

The recoveries in the state surged to 10,25,917, registering 98.75 percent as 410 patients were recovered from the virus on Sunday.

The active cases further declined to 4554 while the test positivity rate during the past 24 hours remained 0.65 for the second consecutive day.

The Health and Family Welfare department sources said in the past 24 hours 249 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 176 as local contact cases.

At least 71 covid positive cases( 16.7 percent) were reported in the age group of 0 to 18 years and Khordha district continued to register highest number of 211 cases followed by Cuttack ( 40) and Mayurbhanj ( 19 ),Balasore ( 15) and Sambalpur ( 14 ).

Khordha district alone accounted for almost 50 percent of the total new cases recorded in the state in the past 24 hours.

Official sources said out of 4554 active cases in the state ,Khordha district has reported 2226 cases, about 48.8 percent of the total active cases in the state followed by Cuttack (438), accounting for 9.6 percent of total active cases

During the past 24 hours Rayagada district recorded 2.1 percent test positivity rate followed by Khordha(1.4) and Cuttack ( 1.2 ).The other 27 districts in the state recorded the test positivity rate below one percent.
