Odisha records 288 new covid 19 cases,Test positivity rate rises to 0.5 percent

Bhubaneswar : As many as 288 people out of 57,546 tests reported covid positive cases in the past 24 hours in Odisha taking the tally to 10,47,674 and registering a test positivity rate of 0.5 percent.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 288 new infections,166 were recorded from the quarantine centres and 122 as local contact cases.

Khordha district registered the highest number of 130 cases followed by Cuttack ( 21), Sambalpur (17), Puri (15) , Mayurbhanj( 12) and Sundargarh ( 11).

At least six districts reported no new covid cases in the past 24 hours while 10 districts recorded single digit covid positive cases.

During the period three covid deaths, two from Khordha district and one in Jagatsinghpur district were recorded in the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8399.

The active cases in the state further dropped to 2221 of which Khordha district alone accounted for a maximum number of 1028 cases followed by Cuttack ( 155).

These two districts together accounted for 53.26 percent of the total covid cases in the state.

As far as the test positivity rate of the districts are concerned, Khordha district has the highest test positivity rate of 1.8 percent.

While eight districts have shown zero percent test positivity rate,21 districts have recorded the test positivity rate below one percent.
