Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 229 new covid positive cases and three deaths in the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 10,46,317 with 8386 fatalities.
The daily covid load in November till date has been witnessing below 300 mark except on five occasions when the positive cases have crossed the 300 mark.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 229 new cases, 133 were reported from the quarantine centres and 96 as local contact cases.
As many as eleven districts have reported no new cases while 15 districts have single-digit cases in the past 24 hours.
Khordha district remained on the top of the district tally with 113 infections followed by Cuttack ( 18 ), Sambalpur (13) and Mayurbhanj( 12).
These four districts have 67.6 per cent of the total positive cases recorded in the past 24 hours in the state.
The daily test positivity rate in the state for the last several days has been maintained below 0.4 per cent. Except Khordha district which has recorded the test positivity rate at 1.3 per cent today, the other 29 districts have a TPR of less than one per cent, ten of them, however, however, recorded zero test positivity rate.
Official sources said three more covid deaths, one each in Khordha, Puri and Sundargarh district were reported in the ongoing health audit pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8386.
The number of active cases in the state stood at 2616 of which Khordha district alone accounted for a maximum number of 1246 cases followed by Cuttack (238).
These two coastal districts together have 56.7 per cent of the total active cases in the state. The other 28 districts have less than one hundred active cases.
