Bhubaneswar : Odisha reported 849 new covid cases in the past 24 hours taking the tally in the state to 10,06,503 with
9,90,796 recoveries.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said 69 more covid deaths were reported during the completion of the death audit process pushing the fatalities in the state to 7834.
The active cases further reduced to 7820 while the test positivity rate of the state in the past 24 hours recorded 1.23 per cent.
Khordha district has the maximum number of 3080 active cases followed by 952 in Cuttack district. These two districts have contributed 51.5 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
Sources said out of 849 covid cases reported from 27 districts in the state, 491 were from the quarantine centres and 358 were local contact cases. At least 119 positive cases were found in the age group of 1 to 18 years.
Khordha district recorded the highest number of 361 cases which is 42.5 per cent of the total new cases reported in the past 24 hours. No covid case was reported from Gajapati,Jagatsinghpur and Subarnapur districts in the past 24 hours.
In the past 24 hours, as many as 24 of the total 30 districts in the state recorded the test positivity rate below one per cent. Khurda districts have the highest TPR of 2.5 per cent.
Sources said although there has been a sharp decline of daily covid load which has been maintaining below the 1000 mark since August 19 last, there has been no let-up in the covid fatalities since July 8 last.
On average over 60 fatalities have been reported daily in the state during the last 50 days.
