Odisha logs 263 new covid 19 cases in past 24 hours, daily test positivity rate drops to 0.39 pc

Bhubaneswar : The daily test positivity rate in Odisha further dropped to 0.39 per cent as 263 new positive cases were detected from 66,633 tests conducted in the state in the past 24 hours.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said of the 263 new cases,153 were reported from the quarantine centres and 110 as local contact cases.

At least 44 positive cases( about 16.7 per cent) were found in the age group of 0 to18 years.

Khordha district has the highest number of 129 positive cases followed by Cuttack (26) and Jajpur (10).

These three coastal districts together accounted for 60.8 per cent of the total new cases in the state.

In the ongoing covid death audit process, three more deaths, two in Bhubaneswar and one in Mayurbhanj district were reported taking the total fatalities in the state to 8373.

Official sources said 308 covid patients were cured of the virus on Thursday pushing the total recoveries in the state to 10,33,652.

The active cases in the state further declined to 2884 of which a majority of 1358 active cases were found only in Khordha district followed by Cuttack ( 262), Jajpur (113) and Sambalpur ( 101). The other 26 districts in the state registered less than 100 active cases.

These four districts in the state together accounted for 63.59 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
